Pondicherry Engineering College is an Institution promoted and fully funded by the Government of Puducherry. The College was started in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. It is an autonomous Institution for the purposes of administration, staff recruitment and College development and is managed by a Board of Governors. The College is affiliated to Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, for the academic purposes. The College has been growing from strength to strength since its inception.  Students Conduct and Disciplinary Code 2009  

On account of Women's day,  Women’s Cell organised Leader’s Podium,  the first competition for both boys and girls of both UG and PG students on 14.10.2019  at 2.00 p.m. at the seminar hall, EEE Department. The event was coordinated by Women’s Cell members,  Dr.  K. Guejalatchoumy,  Dr J. I. Sheeba and Dr. V. Ananthalakshmi. A total of 25 students had participated. Dr.V. Akila, Department of CSE and Dr. S. Geetha, Department of HSS were the judges of the event. Special congratulations to Mr. Aditya gandepudi, III year B. Tech  ECE, Mr. Mushabibin Umer, III year B. Tech  E & I and Ms. Nivethitha. A. P., I year B. Tech IT who had won the first, second and third prizes, respectively. 
Women's Cell, PEC organized a health seminar on 10th October, 2019 at Seminar Hall, Department of EEE. The seminar commenced with the welcome address by Dr.T.Pallavee, Asst.Prof/Chem, Member, Women’s Cell. The Chief guest was Introduced by Dr.R.Rajathy, Associate Prof/EEE, Convenor, Women’s Cell. Prof. S. Kothandaraman, the Principal, PEC  delivered the presidential address and Prof.K.Vivekanandan, Registrar & Dean (Students) felicitated the gathering. The Chief Guest Dr.S.Haripriya, Associate Professor, Department of Food Science and Technology, School of Life Sciences, Pondicherry University addressed the students on the title "Good Nutrition and healthy lifestyle". She emphasized the need of drinking water in our daily life, increase the intake of good nutritious foods  like fruits,vegetables, seafood while reducing the intake of carbohydrates to prevent health issues. She also discussed the pre-menstrual syndrome caused due to frustrated emotions and higher intake of junk foods.  She  stressed on the  importance of reducing the  use of junk foods and aerated drinks.  She concluded her speech by having an interactive session with students.  Ms.S.Sangavi, Student’s Member, Women’s Cell delivered vote of thanks. 
The Department of Information Technology organized a TEQIP-III sponsored two days workshop on "Big Data Analytics with HADOOP" on 10th and 11th October, 2019. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. SANTHI BHASKARAN, the Professor & Head, Dept. of IT. Dr. S. KOTHANDARAMAN, the Principal inaugurated the workshop which was attended by a large number of participants from reputed institutions from and outside Puducherry. Mr. Soudakar Elumalai, Scientist, SAP delivered the keynote address. The inauguration was followed by a hands on training for two days by the Chief Guest and Mr. GANESHKUMAR, Big Data - Technical Manager, Standard Charted Bank, Bengaluru. Dr. V. GOVINDASAMY and Dr. P. BOOBALAN have coordinated this workshop on behalf of the Department of IT.
PATENTS in Civil Engineering: PEC places on record and appreciation on the continuous 3 numbers of  Patents earned by the Department of Civil Engineering under Environmental Engineering specialization, by Dr R. Saravanane, Professor & Head Civil Engineering. The efforts of the Department leads the networking on  the  synergistic Institute- Industrial collaboration to achieve  Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) of India under water, Energy & material science advancements. Dr R. Saravanane, dedicates the Patents to PEC to the due Honour of his teachers who taught him in Civil Engineering,  the First Batch 1989, & to his teacher & mentor, Professor & Principal of PEC, Dr. S. Kothandaraman  & to the Alma matter  without whom this achievements  was not possible. Three decades of Research & Development of Civil Engineering Department had proven its successful achievements on  Local, National  & International  Issues & Challenges. Few other patents of Civil Engineering are on its convergence to granting. The third patent of Dr. R. Saravanane, Prof & Head is on the display.
 The Academic Council, Pondicherry University has granted two additional chances (May & November, 2019) as one-time measure for all students admitted from the academic year 2003-2004 onwards (PU regulations). [Notification]
The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a Technical Meet on behalf of Students Council on 01/10/2019. A talk on "The 3 L's that shaped my life (from student to an Entrepreneur)” by Mr. Vivek, MD, Acheron Software, Hyderabad. Dr.K. Mahadevan, Professor and Head presided over the function. Faculties and students of Mechanical Engineering attended the function largely.
The Women cell activities for the academic year 2019 – 2020 was inaugurated by our beloved Principal Dr. S. Kothandaraman and felicitated by  Registrar & Dean (Students) Dr. K. Vivekanandhan at  the Women Cell premises on 25/9/2019 at 10.30 am. As a first activity, a gardening competition, named as "APJ GARDEN" was held in the women cell where the students of each department formed a group of 15 members and planted nearly 100 saplings around the Women cell office. The best team  would be awarded a cash prize on the International Women Day’ 2020.
A one day Workshop on Kotlin basics and Android App Development was organized by the Google Developer Students Club (DSC) of PEC on 21.9.2019 in the campus at the Seminar Hall, Department of CSE. A mix of 60 students of PEC from various disciplines have registered and participated in the workshop. Mr. Revanth, Final year B.Tech. (ECE) and DSC member delivered a technical presentation on Introduction to Kotlin which involved online compiler and getting used to IDE. It was followed by a tech-talk by Mr. Nikhil Raichur, Developer Relations Manager @ Google Inc., Bangalore through video conferencing. Mr. CS Koushik, Final year B.Tech. CSE and the Student Lead, DSC-PEC demonstrated the Android apps development using Kotlin highlighting the technical details of making interaction between mobile and web apps. In his Tweet by Mr. Nikhil Raichur, he has expressed his happiness about the club activities of PEC.
A One day workshop on healthy learning was organized by Health, Hygiene and Environment Club (H2EC) of PEC on 21.09.2019. Around 50 students have  actively participated in this event. Ventures from various spiritual organization came forward and taught  meditation yoga and management games  during this workshop.  Dr. Selvanathan, Teacher from Art of Living, Er. Sithanandam, Teacher  from Heartfulness, and Dr.S.Rajendiran from Manavalakalai Mandram demonstrated the yoga and meditation techniques for the healthy learning. All the students have actively participated and learned the mediation and yoga. 
 The Women Cell initiates a counseling programme for the girls students on all the working days. The members of the cell will be available in the office of the Women Cell as per the schedule. The girl students are advised to make use of this opportunity. [Schedule]
 The students eligible for SC Post Matric Scholarship/Dr. Ambedkar financial assistance scheme are instructed to upload application form online available at https://www.edistrict.py.gov.in.
