Pondicherry Engineering College is an Institution promoted and fully funded by the Government of Puducherry. The College was started in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. It is an autonomous Institution for the purposes of administration, staff recruitment and College development and is managed by a Board of Governors. The College is affiliated to Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, for the academic purposes. The College has been growing from strength to strength since its inception. Dr. S. Kothandaraman, the Principal hoisted the national flag on 15th August, 2019 and delivered Independence Day speech. The Princiapl along with Dr. K. Vivekanandan, Prof. & Registrar and staff & students planted a tree sapling in the campus on the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day Celebrations.

☛ For the Attention of Pre-final and final year B.Tech. students belonging to SC/ST category: The AICTE has sanctioned Grant-in Aid under PRERANA scheme for preparing SC/ST students for higher education. The scheme enables special coaching classes for students appearing for GATE 2020 and CAT 2019 examinations. [Circular] 
 Payment of Tuition & other fee: All the UG and PG students including the Self-Supporting quota are directed to remit the fee on or before 6.8.2019 without fine and 20.8.2019 with a late fee. [Circular]
Dr. Reju Sam John, a post doctoral research fellow at IUCAA with a team of Indian and German astronomers has resolved a key puzzle about cosmic rays, high-energy particles observed for decades whose sources have remained misteriously unseen. Dr. Reju Sam has pursued his Ph. D. doctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Harish Kumar Holla, Professor in Physics, PEC.

Dr. Rathinam Raja, Scientist, Faculty of Science and Technology, UNIVERSITY OF ALGARVE , Portugal, Europe visited PEC for an academic interaction and discussion on application of Environmental Biotechnology in Pollution Control and Resource Management with Civil Engineering faculty Scholars and students. Dr. S. Kothandaraman, the Principal received him & interacted with him on various future International collaborative opportunities for students/Scholars of PEC. Discussed on the pertinent opportunities in various stages of Research positions, and faculty & student exchange opportunities between PEC and Europe. Dr. R. Saravanane, Prof. & Head, Civil Engineering explored all collaborative opportunities in Environmental Engg and Dr. S. Govindaradjane, Professor & Coordinator of the event, grace the occasion for its fruitful outcome."
Department of Mechanical Engineering inaugurated the Students’ Council for the academic year 2019-20 on 25th July 2019 at 10.30 am by a distinguished alumnus of PEC – (Batch 1990-94), Er. N. Raviprakash, Senior Scientist, Plasma Research, Gujarat, India. Prof S. Kothandaraman, Principal presided over the function and Dr.K. Mahadevan, Professor & Head welcomed the gathering. Faculties and students attended the function in a large number.

The Silver Jubilee Reunion of PEC Alumni graduated in the year 1994 was held at the Auditorium on Friday, the 26th July, 2019. About 80 members of alumni (B.Tech. & MCA) gathered together on this occasion. Dr. G. Zayaraz, the Convenor, PEC Alumni Association welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. KOTHANDARAMAN, the Principal delivered the presidential address. Dr. K. VIVEKANANDAN, Prof. & Registrar and Dr. S. SUNDARAMOORTHY, Prof. & Dean (Academics) delivered felicitation address. The special invitees Dr. S. Kuppuswami, Dr. V.Soundararajan, Dr. V. Prithiviraj, Dr. T. G. Palanivelu, Dr. D. Govindarajalu, Dr. S. Chandramathi, Dr. M. A. Sivasankaran, Dr. G. Vaithianathan, Dr. Siva Murthy Reddy, Dr.S. Ragothaman and Dr. S. Nagarajan bestowed the function by their presence and felicitaition addresses. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. K. Palaniradja. The event was followed by Alumni Induction Programme for the final year students. The alumni members visited their home departments and interacted with the faculty and students.

The ECE student Council inauguration took place on 25th July 2019. The chief guests were Mr. A. Gouroubalane, Principal engineering manager, Microsoft, US and Mr. Muthukumaravelu Velayoudame, senior hardware engineering manager, Apple. The function was presided by respected Principal, Prof. S. Kothandaraman. Mr. Swaminadan Vasudevan, Mr. Radhakrishnan Manga and Mr. Sreekrishnan Ganesan,  alumni of 94 batch also graced the function and interacted with the students.

AICTE, New Delhi has initiated an awareness and campaign  on JAL SHAKTHI ABHIYAN initiative - Jal Diwas,  meaning  "Water Power Campaign"  for  Water conservation and Harvesting being organised in all its approved institutions throughout India. In view of this,  an awareness event was held  on Monday 22nd July 2019,   among the students & scholars of PEC covering all societal perceptions by way of participation and campaign in various events like case studies, activity, poetry, painting etc...The event was initiated & glorified by the Chief Guest Prof.(Dr) S. Balakrishnan, Director & Professor of Dept . of Earth Sciences, Pondicherry University. A good response was recorded from all the students & scholars on inculcating their keen interests on water Conservation and harvesting. PEC had already driven a long term vision in the past since 2005, & recorded its experience & expertise on water conservation through rain water harvesting. 

Green Initiative on the PEC Campus – A Re-growth to Sustainability:  A Green initiative was started up on 17th July 2019,  with hands of support of the horticulture wing on developing a small scale waste litter  composting to natural fertilizer using fallen leaves of the trees and vegetation around  240 acres of PEC campus. Rain water harvesting, Solar power generation alongwith this initiative cope up with its modern eco-society campus  to emerge as a Sustainable Road Map 2030 to  PEC campus. Dr. S. Kothandaraman, the Principal and Dr. R. Saravanane, Prof. & Head, Civil Engineering bestowed the function.

PEC students won 1st Prize in Smart India Hackathon:  The final year B.Tech. students of ECE department have participated in a hardware design contest conducted nationwide and won the first prize with cash Rs. 75,000 for their design. The team titled ICONIXS comprising of RS Nivedha,  Aiswarya Balan, Lakshmi, Mohan Sakthi, Guhan and Mounik Narasimha, the final year B.Tech. students have exhibited their hardware solution to the problem posed by M/s Hero Vehicles in the area of smart vehicles. The team was qualified for the grand finale held at IIT Delhi between 8th and 12th of July, 2019. Dr. S. Kothandaraman, the Principal, Dr. Gnanou Florence Sudha, Prof. & Head and the faculty members of ECE congratulated the team for their winning in the grand event.
