Pondicherry Engineering College is an Institution promoted and fully funded by the Government of Puducherry. The College was started in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. It is an autonomous Institution for the purposes of administration, staff recruitment and College development and is managed by a Board of Governors. The College is affiliated to Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, for the academic purposes. The College has been growing from strength to strength since its inception. PEC is ranked 122 in Engineering Category by NIRF India Rankings 2020.

Felicitations to Staff on Retirement: The Principal, Registrar, Deans, faculty and staff gathered on 30.7.2021 at the CCE Seminar Hall to bid farewell to Dr. Karumuri Subbarayudu, Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department and Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi, Senior Instructor in Chemistry Department who got their retirement on attaining their age of superannuation by the end of July, 2021. Both of them have worked in the institution for more than 30 years.
Tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: On the occasion of the nation observing the Sixth Death Anniversary of Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibooshan, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the former President of India, the students and faculty members pay tribute to the great soul on behalf of the Puducherry Technological University. The Ph.D scholars (Full Time) admitted upto July 2021 are instructed to renew/continue to receive TEQIP-III Award of Research Assistanceship through their respective HoDs before 30.7.2021 [Circular]

2k-Kids turn to be young journalists: The famous tamil magazine Aval Vikadan has launched a special edition called 2k Kids, an initiative to induct students studying in colleges/universities in journalism at their young ages. In the issue dated 20.7.2021, this magazine has published six articles contributed by the students studying in B.Tech. Information Technology: Ms. Nivethitha Pugazhendhi, Ms. Oshin Margaratte, Ms. Elamathi B, Ms. Kamali K, Ms. Pandeeswari K and Mr. Naveen Bharath. The students have written the articles on the following titles, viz. கொரோனா... உறவுகளின் இழப்பு... மனநலம் மீட்பது எப்படி?, ‘மோகனம்’ - கிராமங்களுக்கான வெளிச்சம்!, தொழில் கதைகள்... தன்னம்பிக்கை விதைகள்!, ஒரு பள்ளி, ஓர் ஆசிரியர்... நிகழ்ந்த அற்புதங்கள்!, க்ளாஸு..! குளோஸு..?
ATAL-FDP on "Cyber Security": The Department of CSE conducted Five days long AICTE Teaching & Learning (ATAL) Academy sponsored Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Cyber Crimes, Defensive Practices & Safe Computing" between 12th and 16th July, 2021. This online FDP was inaugurated by Dr. K. Vivekanandan, the Principal on Monday, the 12th July, 2021. 200 participants from various institutions belonging to different states across the nation have registered for this FDP and about 160 participants have successfully attended all the sessions and obtained digital certificates of participation. The FDP has had 13 technical sessions presented by eminent speakers such as Mr. Rahul Alwal, IPS, Senior Suptd. of Police, Puducherry Police, Dr. Ananthalakshmi Ammal, Former Senior Director & Head (Cyber Security Group), CDAC-Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Ajinkya Lohakare, Ethical Hacker, JOSH Talk & TEDx speaker and Dr. G. Aghila, Professor, NIT-Puducherry, Karaikal. Dr. N. Sreenath, Professor & Registrar and Dr. R. Manoharan, Professor & Head, CSE have also delivered technical talks. One exclusive session on "Mindfulness of Health & Happiness" was presented by Mr.Jayaprakash Thindiyote, Faculty - Art of Living & Corporate Trainer, in which he has demonstrated the Pranayama to the participants. The ATAL Academy conducts 1500+ such online FDPs nationwide for this academic year 2021-22.
For the attention of students admitted in AY 2020-21: The students who have not yet submitted the original certificates and documents are instructed to submit the same soon after re-opening of the institution (off-line classes).
